Like all HERMETIK high-pressure plungerpumps, the HJJ100-175kW also transmits power from the crankshaft to the plungers via three hydrostatic bearings in the crosshead. Like all HERMETIK pumps, the HJJ100-175kW has a hydraulic lock to prevent the pumped medium from entering the lubricant circuit.

Comparison of plunger-pumps and centrifugal pumps

For 40 years, Hermetik has set the standards in the high pressure plunger pump sector. Our plunger pumps are known for providing a more consistent and controlled flow of fluids than centrifugal pumps. They work by drawing fluid into a chamber and then passing it through by displacement. Plunger pumps are particularly well suited to applications where precise and controlled flow is required. When used in conjunction with multiple pumps, plunger pumps can maintain high efficiency because their performance is not heavily dependent on fluctuations in the operating fluid or pressure.

Centrifugal pumps, on the other hand, use centrifugal force to pump fluid through rotation. They are very efficient at high flow rates and are particularly well suited to applications where a constant and large volume flow is required. However, in the pump room, centrifugal pumps can be less efficient when the pressure fluctuates greatly, such as when consumers are switched on and off. This is because centrifugal pumps are more sensitive to such changes and can have impaired efficiency.

In order to maximize the efficiency of our plunger pumps, we take various factors into account when planning your pump room. We select the right plunger pump by analyzing your requirements and operating conditions. In addition, we install our own pump controls to perfectly regulate the flow and pressure and reduce pressure peaks to a minimum.
